Sunny Leigh is back with her 8th studio album, I BELIEVE IN YOU.  Two years of the pandemic have given all of us a lot of time to think and ask ourselves questions about what’s important to us. Love, Unity, the state of politics, our relationship with Spirit.  These songs are Sunny’s individual take on universal issues that touch us all. Spanning styles from rock and roll to country to gospel, to opera, Sunny infuses each song with her heart and soul.  So treat yourself to a great listen, and see if you don’t identify, in your own unique way, with what Sunny is singing about in hers.  SONGS:   INVINCIBLE: In the past few years, so many public figures have broken the law, flaunted their power-grabs in the face of Democracy, and in so many cases, seem to have gotten away with it. To those people, Sunny says, “Uh uh. Your time of reckoning is coming.”   RIDERS ON THE NIGHT The thing that got so many of us through the pandemic was that we had to spend so much time with our husbands, wives and lovers, just the two of us. This is a song about that intimacy that developed, a perk in the face of adversity.   YOUR LOVE CAN MAKE ME WHOLE Then times get tough, as they so often do, what gets us through is knowing that there’s a Higher Power we can turn to. Call it God, call it Spirit, call it whatever you want. Each of us must find that Higher Power that we can believe in and that we can turn to when Then times get tough, as they so often do, what gets us through is knowing that there’s a Higher Power we can turn to. Call it God, call it Spirit, call it whatever you want. Each of us must find that Higher Power that we can believe in and that we can turn to when we reach the limits of what we know and what we can personally do.   PLEASE WAIT FOR ME So many people think that relationship is about everything going smoothly and being easy. But those of us, like Sunny, who have been able to sustain a long relationship, know that it’s about being there through thick and thin, through foibles and pain and difficulty, and being committed to being there no matter what.   I BELIEVE IN YOU This is Sunny’s prayer for when times get tough.   YOU KNOW We don’t have to tell God what is wrong or what we need. God knows everything. God sees everything. God is always there. All we have to do is ask, and give over. Surrender. Because, “God…..You Know!”   WHAT CAN I DO FOR YOU God helps us all the time, is always there, and God doesn’t need anything from us except for us to take the help in and live our best lives.   WE’LL LIVE AND LOVE AGAIN Sometimes people who are in love have to be far apart because of circumstances. This song is an assurance that love is greater than space and time, and that there will be an end to the separation and love will be right there waiting.   THE RHYTHM IN ME No matter what’s going on, we have to remember that there is a rhythm in each of us that wants to express ourselves, that wants to have fun, that wants to dance. Listen to this song, get up and dance, and find the rhythm in you that makes you wanna dance.   GRATEFUL Sometimes, especially in a long relationship, we take are partners for granted. It’s important to tell those closest to us how grateful we are for them.   I WANNA BELIEVE With all the division, lies and incivilities that have been going on in the current political scene, it’s more important than ever that we hold onto our vision that goodness is inherent in human nature, and the world we want to see is a real possibility. Just a dream away.     BREAK THE SILENCE This is plea for everyone in politics to tell the truth rather than lying in order to maintain power or to win. We’re all humans. We who are on different sides of the political spectrum have to find a way to talk to each other.   DEVOTED TO YOU EMOTIONALLY This is Sunny’s take on a 60’s song. When you love someone, you just do. Ya wanna love ‘em, ya wanna sing, ya wanna dance. It’s emotional.   OPPORTUNITY With all the things in our country that we are unhappy or frightened about, many people lose heart and feel hopeless. This is Sunny’s plea to take all these events as an opportunity to make our country the country we know it can be. And the operative word is WE.   IO SONO L’UMILE ANCELLA In this bonus track, Sunny dips into the world of Opera to remind herself and us, that she is just the servant of the words and music, the art that pours through her. And she gets to use her early operatic training.
